sku disappearing

I have an Etsy Shop and sync it when I add new items to my shop. All of the items sync fine with square. I use a square terminal at craft shows for payment and to keep track of my Etsy Shop inventory as they are sold at the craft shows. Since syncing the Etsy Shop doesn't sync the Skus given to each item, I have to manually input them in the squareup website. The problem is that my sku numbers are disappearing from the items listed in the inventory, and I have to re-input the values almost every time I have a craft show. What is the solution to this? Or what causes this to happen?

As I see this is your first post in the forum let me welcome you to the sellers forum.

For importing items from another site such as Etsy, I would suggest exporting your Etsy Catalog as a csv or excel file if you can.  This usualy works best when you have large data sets.  Square will treat ALL etsy items as new items since you will not be seeing the Square Token, I suggest only pasting in the NEW items and not all Items from Etsy.

Now if you only have a few Items and prefer to Manually enter these items the way this is done is dependent on if your useing an App or a computer.  The biggest issue is you need to Save on a computer after entering data.  Sometimes this is required by the line or the screen and not always when your done entering all information.  The App issue could be if your offline and do not realize this then your Square Dashboard does not Update online but only on the device till you log in again, then it disappears becase the system looks for the most current catalog online through the Square system.  I notice this mostly when I update an item on POS 1 and POS 2 still shows the outdated version.   I then log out and log in on POS 2 and everything is as it should.

I have about 9000 items and my SKUs do not disappear.  Just make sure you are not interchanging SKU and GTINs.   GTINS are formatted in a specific way and a SKU can be more general but must contain only numbers and letters in Square.  If you are using special characters this may be why they are disappearing.
