problems linking to uploaded files etc

When I try to add a link to a word or words in one of my pages, a link is indeed created but shows up as the file name itself, in full.

In other words, if I try to link to a piece of text (Annual report 2023), what I see when I publish is the name of the file itself (annual_report_2023.pdf) rather than the text (Annual report 2023) being "live" as the link.

In the past, the link tool worked perfectly - I could highlight a bit of text, and then use the link button to link to an uploaded file, or to another page in my site, etc.

Welcome to the community, and thanks for flagging this.

It does sound as if something’s not quite right here, however I’ve not been able to replicate the issue on my own site. I tested this by linking a PDF document to a piece of text within the Main Banner of my site. The results were as expected, with the piece of text on the live site underlined and redirecting to the document in a new tab when selected. 

So that I can dig a little deeper, would you mind sharing a link to your site and let me know, on which page I can view the link/links in question.
