printer driven cash drawer not opening

My printer driven cash drawer has recently just stopped working.  In Settings>Hardware>Cash Draws - it shows No USB cash drawer connected.

I have rebooted, restarted, unplugged everything, multiple times. The Printer shows a blinking error light. 

 

Any suggestions???

Sorry to hear @Palmo

 

Yes, your settings will show that no usb cash drawer is connected regardless since your drawer is printer driven and doesn't physically connect to the USB Accessories hub. 

 

Have you reached out to the manufacturer of the printer to learn about the error and possible troubleshooting? That will help your drawer work.

I havent reached out to Star yet. In the settings, I used to be able to open the drawer with the "Test Drawer" link, but that does nothing. So you dont think it has anything to do with the Square POS software?

Im having the exact same problem currently. It initially worked when i set it up. I borrowed a friends cash drawer who previously owned a business, and set it up through my stand. Worked fine, got mine in the mail set it up and the printer works fine but the drawer wont open without a key. Set the previous drawer up that was working and it will not open now without a key as well. I have unplugged and switched out every piece of new and old printers/drawer combinations you could come up with and nothing will open the drawer anymore. It makes no sense. Did you ever figure this issue out?

How is your printer connected?  Wifi, Bluetooth, Network Cable, USB?

 

I have the Square Stand and have the Star printer that is USB, Bluetooth, And Networked.

I use the network interface so I can share 1 cash drawer that is printer driven.   Mine is working fine, not sure if you can connect your printer differently like I am able to.  Just trying to give you ideas to trouble shoot. 

 

Another idea is to go into your Ipad settings and remove the printer from there, then try to reset it up through Square like normal.  I had to do that with another piece of Squares Hardware to get it to work, can not remember it it was a bluetooth chip reader or usb scanner.

 

Just some ideas to try to get this to work for you.

I appreciate the response and multiple trouble shooting ideas!

 

Unfortunately I have tried both of those and it still won't work. I have it network connected and have even set up a separate printer to connect it to. Still nothing. I'm thinking im going to have to shut down the whole system, unplug everything and act like its a brand new set up again maybe. There is no bluetutooth, or usb connectivity option that ive seen either.
