point of sale customer display

I'm trying to change the image on my customer display on my register.

When I delete the existing image I then can't upload a new image. The image seems to load in that it briefly shows in the 'thumbnail' where you do the upload from but the image then disappears and does not show. Have tried with various images and this makes no difference. I can't even reload the original image.

Any ideas how to resolve this?

Hi @WokinghamBC, thanks for your post.

Where are you editing this image from? The steps to change your customer display logo would be:

  • Go to your Account & Settings tab, and click Locations > Select the location you’d like to update.
  • Scroll down to Point of Sale checkout background and click the icon to upload an image.
  • Click Save in the top right corner.
  • Reboot your Square Register. After the customer display has powered on, check out your new image!

Let me know if this works.

Hi Alegra,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes that is what I am doing (we only have one location).

But after deleting the current image, when I click on the upload button although it very brielfy - for a second - shows the new image nothing gets put onto our regsiter and nor is the new image shown in the bigger 'display square' immediately above the upload button in that part of the locations page.

If i shut down everything and re boot it makes no difference save that if I leave it for a couple of days I can then upload a new image.

So I can do what I want but just very slowly with a gap of days between each go.

After much trial and error this issue appears to have been caused by some kind of corruption of the image file (a jpeg).

Emailing myself the image file and saving it with a different name seemed to solve the problem.

Thanks for letting me know and sorry for the delayed response @WokinghamBC

I was testing this earlier and the same thing was happening to me, I was trying to change the pixel size of different images.. however, they were ones I just saved from the web so that may be why.

Glad you got there, let me know if anything else comes up!
