how to edit the price on a single item from invoice dashboard

I have created an invoice and added an item from the drop down (my inventory database) but want to adjust the price of the item without altering the price in the inventory database.

The price field on the invoice doesn't look like it's editable.

I know I can add a discount to the whole order, but when there is more than one item I need that change to be assigned to the item, not the whole order.

What I do when I need to do that is I discount it but dollar amount not percentage and multiple discount lines.

So discount would be "$x amount" for "x product"

I know it isn't perfect but it's what we do and we sent out a lot invoices.
