Zebra (Symbol) LS2208 Barcode Scanner not Connecting to Square Terminal

We have a Zebra (Symbol) LS2208 Barcode Scanner to use with a Square Terminal. When first plugged in to Square Hub the scanner will beep, then immediately lose power. When unplugged and plugged back in we don't have get that beep. It appears there is no power going to barcode scanner.

@OMGCCGGames  Welcome to the community. We run into the same problem with our terminal, we use a Terra barcode scanner and it does the exact same thing. What I have figured out that makes ours work ( and hopefully it will work for you) I plug the scanner into the hub, then I unplug the usb-c cable that plugs into the terminal, then plug it back in. The terminal immediately recognizes the barcode scanner and works with any problem.

I don’t know it the scanner causes a power drop to the terminal and it can’t see it, or if the scanner has to have powered first for the scanner to see it.

Thank you for your suggestion. I gave it a shot. On one of our terminals disconnecting and reconnecting the usb-c would indeed power up the barcode scanner more than it did before. However, the scanner will only stay on for about 2 seconds before powering off again. We have two terminals with hubs, so I tried it on the other hub, and it wouldn't even do that. I really do appreciate the suggestion though.

@OMGCCGGames  Go online and find the manual for the barcode scanner, in the manual find the barcode that keeps the scanner on all the time, scan it. That will keep the scanner from going to sleep and losing the power.Sorry I forgot to add that piece on information. That’s the only way I can keep mine connected.

I tried this. On one of our hubs we still get no power whatsoever. The second one stays on long enough to scan the always on barcode, and then loses power about 1 second later. I'm starting to wonder if we have faulty equipment. The scanner works. I can plug it in to a computer usb port and have it work just fine.

Do you have a square stand? The USB hub is the same for the terminal and stand. That would be a good way to test the hub.

Also my Tera barcode scanner can be used wirelessly, and has a built in battery it only draws .5 amp. I wonder if your scanner is pulling more power?
