Hi there,
I thought I had correctly embedded a link to a You Tube shorts video on our website but it isn't working, there is just a blank box where the video should be.
It's not set to private on You Tube and as far as I can tell everything seems as it should be...anyone know what I might be doing wrong? I am relatively new to Square and have had a few struggles!
Hi there, @Winterbrook,
Thanks for reaching out, and welcome to Square! We know getting everything set up can be a bit of a learning curve, and we’re here to help.
Regarding the issue with your embedded YouTube Shorts video showing up as a blank box — this can happen for a couple of reasons, even if the video isn't set to private. Here are a few things to check:
Use the correct embed link – YouTube Shorts URLs (like youtube.com/shorts/...) don't always work well with standard embedding. Instead, try embedding the full video URL in this format:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID
Grab the proper embed code – On YouTube, click Share under the video, then choose Embed and copy the iframe code provided. This works more reliably than pasting a link directly.
Add it using the Embed Code block – In your Square Online site editor, use the “Embed Code” section rather than a plain text or image block. Then paste the full iframe code there.
Double-check site permissions – Make sure your browser isn’t blocking content or scripts on your site, which can sometimes hide embedded videos during previews.
If you’d like, feel free to share the link you tried to embed or a screenshot of how it looks in the editor, and we’ll gladly take a closer look with you.
