Why was my mobile deposit declined?

I have received a check from a tenant  who uses square banking. It is a printed check. It's not a normal check it has a dotted line where you cut the check yourself, and at the bottom is printed t he part where  you endorse the check. I originally  tried to deposit into my bank of america checking  account.  I tried mobile  deposit,  and I tried the ATM. Several  times. I don't understand  why I'm having problems  depositing my check. Has anyone else had this problem?

Mobile check deposits may be declined if either Square or our banking partners determine that the check doesn't meet eligibility requirements. Before attempting another deposit, I recommend following these guidelines from our Support Center:

 

- Endorse your check using only black or blue ink. Endorsement is required for submission, and checks can be rejected when other ink colors are used.

 

When photographing your check, ensure you have:


- A dark background
- A flat surface
- Good lighting
- All four corners of the check visible in the frame

- Make sure your Square app is updated to the latest version.

Hey @Pugz61 

I think with printed checks, you would need to physically deposit it with a teller.  Because there are no security backings on them like normal checks, the ATM and Mobile won't recognize them. 

 

I don't use Square checking, but I have used Deluxe checks which is similar principles and that's how it needed to be done.
