Why is reconciling so cumbersome now since new gift card fees?

ASKING AGAIN MY QUESTION FROM 2 WEEKS AGO:

@_Violet or someone else from Square, I previously email Square about this and got the big blow off.  Could you please update on this important reporting issue...

For bookkeeping purposes, now (on daily Sales Reports) when you subtract Fees from Total collected from Card, the amount no longer aligns with the Balance that was actually deposited. Nobody should have to navigate to yet another screen to see the actual balance deposited.  It's bad enough that there are now new load fees on the gift cards, but for the love of all that is good, PLEASE roll the new fees into total fees on the Dashboard & Daily Sales Reports!!!

Hey @RoasterChica @Candlestore a feature request would need to be submitted to make all the fees including the load fee available on the sales summary report.

There are a few reasons why it may not be best to rely on the Sales Summary alone to find out how much will be deposited (loans for example can throw this off), but gift card fees are another.  Each report has its purpose and the Transfer Report shows a full breakdown of what was included in the deposit. I do understand how this would make reconciling easier so feel free to submit that request.

@RoasterChicaI hear you. UGH.

And there isn't even a way to tweak things to see those fees with Custom Reports. Now I need to have my custom report window, loans window, and gift card report window all open just to figure out where everything is going. It's quite the hassle.

@MayaP , @_Violet ;

Still trying to figure out if there is a CSV that will show this also.  I export CSVs for my accounting and can use Excel and power Query to merge this all into one csv to upload to my accounting software so I do not have to look through multiple reports Like @ryanwanner on the dashboard.

I fielded a question last week because the OP was asking why balance Transfers were NOT matcjhing the Bank Deposit ampounts.  I did the Math and found out they were not finding or adding in the Load Fee, and had no idea where to find this and a moderator basically pointed them to call support.  This should be a general question that we all need to be able to easily answer.

@Candlestore  The only CSV download I've found with the load fees consistently shown is the dedicated gift card one at Reports -> Gift Cards.

I could have sworn I saw that fee in one of the transactions csvs at one point but I can't find it there now.

@MayaP ,

I understand Each report does have a purpose and why the Transfer Report would show the fee along with Loan fees.  What I do not understand is why the Fee would not be on the Transaction report csv or at the bottom of a sales receipt like Processing fees are.  Each CC processed has a Fee associated with it based on $ amount and type of payment (Card Present, Not Present, Online, Invoice ) which is shown at the bottom of a digital receipt us business owners can see on the Dashboard and also in the Transactions CSV exports.  Sorry I would assume that Square would show Gift Card Sale on a Transaction line with the associated Fee as normal and not need to submit for a feature request.  But heading over to request this feature.

@MayaP ;

FEATURE REQUEST SUBMITTED

Just thought of this after Posting for the Feature Request Here: https://www.sellercommunity.com/t5/Square-Point-of-Sale-app/Gift-Card-Load-Fees-in-Transactions-CSV/...

The Loan fee is not based off of a Transaction but based off of total transaction % for a Loan payment for the Day, Correct?

Where as the Fee that is Shown on the Sales Summary Report is based off of each Transactions Fee?

Now a Gift Card Load Fee is based on the Transaction (Sale Loading of a Gift Card) for that Transaction and is still a Fee that is part of a SALE or Transaction and should be included on the summary report just like Squares Processing Fee is.

All $ in and Out of sales should be shown in the Summary report and not have to go digging through each report, A summary is a glimpse of the total of Sales and FEES to show the net income to a business.  Unless Square is using something else to define a summary.

Hey @RoasterChica @ryanwanner @Candlestore, thanks for flagging this. I certainly don't want you guys to have to navigate multiple screens to reconcile your deposit.

I did escalate this to our support team for more insight. When I have a solution I will let you know. Thanks for your patience! 🙏
