Why does square app close when screen is off?

I have my ipad connected to a square stand.  When no one is ringing up a customer for a while, the screen turns off.  When we turn it back on, we have to open square back up again and wait for everything (cash drawer/printer/scanner) to connect.  Is there a way to just keep the square app open when the screen times out so that when we turn the screen back on, it is still there?

Hey @HeatherBryant - It's because your iPad is falling asleep. To correct this, you'll need visit your device's iOS Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto Lock > Never. 

This will keep your iPad awake and prevent the app from timing out. I hope this helps!
