Why am I receiving a "screen not private" error message on my app?

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Screen not private.

Hi, I've been using square for just over 2 months and every so often (more often than not) I get the message when trying to take a payment that my screen is not private. I have tried all the recommended things like restarting and also turning off screen share on any apps ( the only one was fb chat) this is getting frustrating as it hinders me taking any payments. Can you please help.

When you have a moment, could you share the following details?

  • What brand and model of device are you using? (e.g., iPhone 14, Samsung Galaxy S22)
  • Which Square app are you using? (e.g., Square Point of Sale, Square for Retail, Square Appointments)
  • Have you downloaded the latest version of the Square app from the app store?
  • Is your device running the latest software version? (e.g., iOS, Android OS)
  • Are any other apps running in the background when you encounter this issue? If you close all other apps, does the issue persist?
