Why The Problems With Outbound Payments?

So after going through a good 30 minutes of setup, verification of my identity, my ID, my face, my FEIN, business information, websites, phone and email verifications, multiple codes to my phone, adding and verifying business banking account... why was my outbound payment held for 'verification' review? Why have I not received a single message or anything else on the website, email, text or otherwise telling me this? Why was I told my account was fully ready to go when it's clear as a bell it was not and I do not find this out until a customer has sent me a payment and bills need to be paid and even if I refund the money to the customer to attempt to find a reliable payment processor you intend on keeping all the fees when I have done nothing wrong, followed all instructions and processes and I still have this company refusing to give me access to my fund and I have no reason at all given by the company here or anywhere?

This really leaves me incredibly mad that I ever dealt with this company.

Hello @RobInSTL !

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties getting your account fully established!

Square, just like every payment processor out there, will get you verified on your side relatively quickly. However, the processors then have to do a lot of back end checks to verify your business is legit. This includes talking with the IRS to verify your EIN is active and linked to you, verifying with the bank that your accounts are registered to the correct business entity, and verifying with your state to make sure your business entity is registered and able to conduct business in your state. These things take time.

Could this be made more clear on the website? Probably. At the same time, this is also a way to be able to catch those people who are trying to scam the processors.

I'm definitely not saying that you are trying to scam anyone. Starting up a business is incredibly difficult, and adding in all the governmental checks and regulations makes it 10 times more of a pain in the bum.

These checks usually take 3-7 business days to complete, at which time Square will release funds. As you process more, money holds will disappear.

This will be similar with every payment processor out there, so while I understand the anger you're feeling, please know that it won't be any better anywhere else.
