When ordering the free magstripe reader, does square automatically know which type to order for andr

I'm trying to make sure the free magstripe I'm ordering is a Type C for my android.  Is that automatic?

In addition to what @Candlestore mentioned,

 

The only connection types available for the Square Reader for magstripe at this time are via the headset jack or Lightning port.

 

If your device doesn’t have a built-in port, some models come with an adapter that lets you connect 3.5mm audio accessories, like your Square Reader, through the device's main port (such as USB-C).

 

Alternatively, we recommend using the Square Reader for contactless and chip, which connects wirelessly via Bluetooth LE. This option also allows you to accept contactless payments, chip cards, and mobile wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay.

When ordering your Free Reader you need to select which one you would like under Select Connectivity:

credit-card-reader 

 

For the Headphone Jack to USB-C you would also need:

usb-c-to-headset-jack-adapter
