When Does A House Account Affect Inventory?

I have a retail home decor store. If I open a house account for a customer and add an item, what happens on the inventory side? Does the item show available until that item is paid, like an invoice or a saved cart or does it deduct from inventory?

Thank you, that answers my question. I was hoping that this worked in a different way and could be used as a sort of gift registry.

@BexleyHouse I removed my post because I had to test something.  Now I can say for certain that when a transaction is paid with a house account, the inventory is immediately updated.  I created a test item, added inventory, the closed a transaction with it to a house account.  The inventory of that test item reduced by 1, telling me that the inventory effect is immediate.
