Want Pickup available in POS (in person sales) but NOT on website (remote sales)

I am a small MOBILE engraving business. I attend horse shows and expos where I sell in person. My items are not buy Off-Shelf. Each item is custom designed & engraved, which takes time.

 

When I am at a horse show, I want PICKUP enabled, so I create an order, and set a time for them to pick it up. However, I do NOT want ‘Pickup’ as a choice on my website.

 

Because I couldn’t get this to work just having a single location, I created a second ‘location’ - for MOBILE (in person sales). I thought this would allow me to do what I want to do… but if I choose an item from my catalog in my MOBILE shop and set it to pickup only, it goes **poof** from my website! 

I thought maybe I could remove the ‘Online’ app from my MOBILE pos store - but it warned me this would delete my web site!!! This should not be so complicated! LOL

 

Why aren’t separate locations, well, separate?

Separate locations are separate, and you can decide which of your items are shared across locations, while keeping the stock for each location separate. In the same way, you can pick which items to show on your website.

Because Square allows you to manage only one business per Square account, some settings are shared across locations. 

 

However, for this particular situation, the additional location shouldn't be necessary. 

Disabling the pickup option for Square Online doesn't mean you wouldn't be able to select pickup for in-person sales when using the point-of-sale.

So I guess I just need to work out all the settings to get what I need. Obviously, I am doing it wrong and probably need some help.

Pick Up, Shipment and In- Store are available.  It is not real clear how to select Pick Up or Shipment for a Sale at the POS.  I learned this the Hardway.  I used it before but every so often when I get a Phone order for a Shipment or Pickup I forget to select this Fulfillment methods.  I use Square for Retail on a Square Stand and the Fulfillment method is on the right side just above the items that get added to the cart.

 

In the below image it shows In Store with 3 dots off to the Right.... if you tap the 3 dots

After pressing the 3 dots as descibed above you get the below screen to choose:

In Store

Shipment

Pick Up

Then You can edit the Pick up or Shipment details and add a note of your own if it is for a certain venue you will be at in the future.

Thanks Keith. My checkout panel doesn’t have those selections on the three dots. But I am using the standard Square POS app for iPad (with square terminal). The  … on my checkout panel just allows you to clear the order selections.

But I did finally unravel all the options and have found a solution that will work for me. I uninstalled the ‘Online’ app in Square POS. Then I turned on ‘Orders’ in Checkout Settings. When checking out on the POS app, I create an order, tap ‘schedule’ (instead of checkout), and voila, I can choose pickup and set a date & time… then checkout the customer and have them pay. Then all the orders show up under ‘Orders’ option on the tools menu, all neat and organized for me. 😁 I can simply select an order and text the customer when ready for pickup.

 

But I have to say, it has been terribly time consuming, and extremely frustrating to figure that simple solution out on my own. My next horse show will be a breeze to keep my orders organized and in the proper order of what I should engrave next.

Glad you found a way to do what will work for you.  I do not know much about the Standard POS as I started using the Free version of the Square for retail almost immediately and now have the paid version.   Here is a link to the comparison of Square POS and the two version of Retail :5980-compare-square-for-retail-and-square-point-of-sale
