I received an email from Square this morning saying I need to input my VAT number as it is no longer valid and has been removed from your Square locations.
Tried to input the VAT number and it wasn't recognized. Hopefully it will be fixed soon

Indeed our team is aware of the email that was sent, and the subsequent Dashboard complications. Please be assured that our Engineers are working as quickly as possible to fully resolve the issue for all affected Sellers.

I just had an email from Square saying that my VAT number is no longer valid and has been removed. It hasn't changed, and I haven't logged into square from the link in the email - anyone else had this issue?

It has to be a scam I think. Also not clicked the link
I raised it with Square, and they suggest sending the email to: [email protected].
Didn't say if it was actually a scam, but I suspect it is. 🙄
I have had the same problem since I created my account a few weeks ago. Can't move forward without it.

I'm afraid if this is not sorted within a week or so I'm going to have to leave Square and go elsewhere. I cannot use this in my shop until this is sorted, and it opens within two weeks!

I fully understand the concern here, and I'll do my best to bring you the latest updates as soon as I receive them.
At this time, our engineers have reinstated the recently removed VAT numbers for existing Sellers. However, we are still working towards a fix for new Sellers, and Sellers who need to update their VAT number.
I'll check in with the investigating team again today, to see how close we are to a resolution. I'll let you know here as soon as I have a response.

I just wanted to check in to let you know I'm still awaiting the latest update on this. It is expected that a fix will be in place prior to March 20th, however I'm still awaiting confirmation as the indication is that it may well be resolved sooner than that.
I'll be sure to keep you posted as soon as I learn more.

I've gone ahead and merged your comments with this thread that acknowledges the issue.
Our Engineers are still working towards a fix. So at this time, it would be expected that any attempt to manually update the VAT number may well result in an error being returned.
Apologies for any phishing concerns this may have caused.

I am having the same issue and I have been a customer for 5 years! Very worrying it is taking so long!
We had the problem also, but it seems to be showing a VAT number for us at the moment 🤞. I thought that a temporary fix had been implemented? It would be great if Square could take a look in to this ASAP as it is really important for UK businesses to have their VAT functioning correctly, whether that be in the calculation of or its visibility on receipts. Need to keep Mr. HMRC happy. 😀
