I am providing the business name and EIN exactly as provided to me on the SS4 by IRS.
However, I receive the message "The name and TIN you provided do not match what is on file with the IRS. Please verify the information you are providing matches exactly what is on file with the IRS."
On calling up Square support, I was asked to contact IRS. However, due to the current Covid-19 situation IRS is not taking calls.
(this is not a problem with a particular timeframe, I got the same result yesterday and today as well)
Any leads on how I could get my EIN updated into the account?
Hey @terrabutterco,
Sorry you're having trouble getting your EIN updated.
Unfortunately I'm not gonna have different information here than our Support team gave you aside from maybe finding some paperwork from when you filed for your EIN to make sure it's entered exactly as shown.
The only other option is contacting the IRS here.
I had the same issue so I just used my SSN..which worked fine..although now I've been told that I have multiple numbers on file. So I don't know what to do about that.
Hey @renmishele,
With Square, you can have multiple Square accounts and locations attached to different EINs. Do you continue to have issues with your account?
Let us know, we will be on the lookout for your reply.
The issue is that I've been told that I have more than one TIN, but there's no way for me to see that information. I would just remove one of them if I could.
@renmishele, When it comes to tax reporting, we can understand how this may get a little messy. We think that the issue here is that Square does not report to two separate TIN or EINs.
I get that, but there is no way for me to view that information or update it. I've just been told that I have 2, but no offer of how to remedy the issue.
Hey there @renmishele
In this case, I would recommend reaching out to a tax advisor on how to file a Split 1099-K as Square is unable to file for you or provide Tax advice.
thanks for the suggestion, but square gave me a 1099-k with all the correct information on it. square says I have 2 TINs but they haven't provided me a way to view those TINs or make corrections to them.
