Unable to accept HSA payments online

I am having the same problem and so far square support hasn't helped. They just said that it looks to be set up correctly, but why am I suddenly having problems this year? It declines the card. It is upsetting because my massage therapy clients want to be able to use their HSA funds. Square says we are in the category Heath & Beauty Spas and that should be fine, but I don't remember our merchant category having spa in it before or the word beauty.

Hey @sariedawn, thanks for reaching out. I definitely want your customers to be able to use their HSA card for your services.

 

Your account is currently set up under the merchant category code Health and Beauty Spas 7298. Are you looking to change this? I’m not able to update the code through this platform, so you’ll need to contact Support directly for assistance. 

 

Just a heads up, if HSA or FSA cards are declining, we don’t have a way to override this, and it’s possible the card issuer no longer allows the card to be used for this type of service. It could also be due to the payment being online. Does this happen with in-person transactions as well? To resolve the issue, your customer will need to contact their card issuer directly.
