Turning off point of sale images but retaining online images

Hello,

We use both Square point of sale units and also the square website. I could have sworn there used to be a way to detach the website image choice from the point of sale so the website would display a photo, but the point of sale would just use a color and product initials on the tile.

I am unable to find a way to do this now, and having images on the point of sale makes it harder for staff to navigate the options quickly since most of the product images look similar.

Does such an option exist?

@simpleroastcoff you can turn off the item sync in the online website dashboard under the bottom half where it is settings.  The only bad thing is it will not sync with changes made to the online point of sale, but you can then edit the items independently.

I would actually recommend a little bit of a different solution.  Try the free version of the square for restaurants.  It completely removes the item images and has an awesome interface you can control pos layout directly from the dashboard.  Some things are different, but you can use the pos app and the restaurants apps at the same time on different devices even.  The free tier will let you try it out and see the work flow differences and there is even a square for restaurants week going on right now.

This would solve your problem without having to maintain 2 items.
