Turn off automatic receipt cutter.

Hi, my Star Micronics mPoP Printer automatically cuts the receipt paper off and I need to stay attached until I pull it off, I’ve downloaded the Star Micronics Printer utilities apps to change setting, and it works when testing from their app. I set the cutter to “partial” and lock the printer setting, but, when I open Square POS app and print a receipt it still automatically cuts the receipt off and it hits the floor. Can it be the software overriding the hardware setting? Anyway to make it stop automatically cutting?

Hello @iBlue, very sorry for this late reply! I've filed your request to be able to use the partial cut setting for receipts printed with the Star Micronics mPoP printer. I can't guarantee that it will be possible, but I'll update this thread as soon as I have more information or to let you know if it's something we can enable in future.

 

In the meantime, can you reply here to let us know a bit about your business environment and how this setting would be useful? Any additional context that you can share will help the Hardware team to understand how important this is to you!

Hi Helen, Thanks for looking at my issue, I have a foodtruck that has a service window with a 16”x36” service counter top, and the mPoP sits on top of it perfectly to the edge, the only issue is when the receipt, and a very short ticket stub is printed and if your not ready to grab them they will fall to the floor it’s a very fast printer pushing them out together. The servers space around the mpop is also an issue only 30” width so to attach some kind of receipt catcher basket, it would get knocked off for sure, having the receipt, ticket stub, and sometimes the kitchen ticket staying partially attached would be the best solution for me. I will be having the exact same issue very shortly. Unfortunately this cannot be considered a feature request and should promptly be updated. The receipt printer has the partial cut function for a reason. Having the receipt completely cut and fall to the floor is a serious issue for the way we work. Square specifically sells this printer on their website, so it should stand behind and consider all it's functions. I invite Square to spend a day catching and/or picking up receipts off the floor for every transaction.
