Transaction filter not working with ticket name

We are a bakery and make hundreds of transactions daily. We use pagers a lot of times to communicate with our clients when orders are ready. So to make it simple we add items, sometimes the customers don't add their information so we just follow the steps:

Add items > Click on Charge > Add the number of the pager "5" for example and we finalize the order.

Our problem is: let's say the customer from pager 5 took it home by accident, we want to find in which transaction the number 5 was registered. I see the option "TICKET: 5" when I go to transactions on the Square Point of Sale "Register", but that option is only viable when it happens very quickly since the tab "Transaction" on the Square Register does not allow filter by date and it won't work if I only type "5", I literally need to search 1 by 1 to find it. But in this case I need to find something from 1 week ago, I can't just scroll 5000 orders to start looking.

When I go to the online dashboard I made a few tests and there are no filter working that can find the number of the pagers. I tried filtering by NOTE, TICKET NAME, CUSTOMER, basically all of them.

Another big issue, the option "TICKET 5" that shows on the Register, does not show ANYWHERE on the dashboard, so how I'm supposed to filter something that does not show there?

I hope I was able to make my case clear

Thank you in advance.

These photos illustrate the difference, the top one is the dashboard, and the bottom one is the device itself. That "Ticket #28" does not show anywhere on dashboard and I really need that!

Hello @BBCafe1, I am sorry you are having some issues with your register, and I'm happy to assist. To clarify, are you adding "5" as note on the transaction, or are you creating an open ticket and adding the information there? Your looking for a way on your register to search in transactions and find the order based off what you entered?

We are creating an open ticket and adding the information there, and yes, can be either on the register or the dashboard, but I need to find ways to filter and find that order specifically.

Thanks for clarifying @BBCafe1. I tested myself and running into the same issue. I am going to tag some super sellers to get more insight into this, @wajiha @homeprogreen @Stacelyn24 @Sam_400º

Ok so yeah that one is tricky. I do see customers name though so that can help. If you are using loyalty then go to add customer on your checkout screen. Type in the name that’s showing on the picture and put them in the new cart. Hit their personal info and it will open up the screen showing all of their transactions. Scroll down until you find that one and tap to open it up. I use that trick all the time for when a customer comes in with something to exchange. Much quicker then hunting thru all of the transactions one by one

As an even easier option in the future for times you’re just using the pager number you could create a customer for each pager number that you have, as example would be pager 5 as customer. Then when you need to find who has the pager or transaction you can bring up that customer pager 5 and see the transaction history that way

That is trully a good solution, because we are talking about 800+ customers a day, so I really need a simple solution in this case. I believe the search function is not searching on the right fields, if they just add the proper field the search look for it might be a easy fix on Square end, but who knows.

Thanks for the answer, I will try that out today!

POS Register Transaction search used to work for Transaction ticket name. Now stopped working since about 6+ months ago--only works if the customer name is registered in Square. Search field in Transaction screen never worked on POS app on phone. Not sure why. Been almost 4 years. Transaction search under Ticket Name field in Dashboard has worked but is inconsistent when multiple transactions under same customer name in same day--sometimes shows up as 1 transaction with multi-receipt under pop-up window; and, sometimes 2 transactions when a refund has been given--this happened while on phone with customer service. All 3 platforms should have same functions especially a feature that is needed for real time customer service. All 3 are very different right now and inconsistent. POS App on phone/POS App on Terminal transaction search by name has never worked. Biggest immediate issue is that the POS Register/POS App on phone/POS app on Terminal have the Transaction look up filter work with Ticket Name regardless if the customer is a registered Square user. Just spent an hour on the phone with Customer Service. Albert was very patient. Thank you
