Transaction customer id is blank

Transactions are being paid using Phone App & Square Card Reader, but Export of Transactions Detail shows some Customer ID's and Names are Blank. Is this a Chip Reader vs Tap problem ? Is there a setting I missed ?

Hi there,

I don't believe that's related to chip vs. tap payments. In my experience, customer information is only populated if the customer record is attached to the sale or if Square is able to associate the transaction with an existing customer.

If some transactions have names and Customer IDs while others are blank, I'd start by comparing how those sales were processed to see whether a customer profile was attached at checkout.

Hopefully someone else can chime in if they've run into the same thing.

I deleted my Customer Record and purchased by DIP. The Sales Detail Export has my Customer name. This is a surprise, since most articles say Customer name is never transmitted.

I then deleted my Customer Record ( again ) and purchased by TAP. The Sales Export has no Customer name
