Terminal with built in QR/barcode scanner

Hi all,

I have QR codes on all of my products and Have just recently switched to Square and brought the square terminal but I’m now having issues reading QR codes with the system.

I have a barcode scanner that states it is compatible with the terminal on Squares website but it doesn’t seem to work.

I think it would be great if it had a built in QR/barcode reader like other companies instead of having to use the dated handheld barcode scanner. Is there anyway of doing this?

Do any of you agree that this would be handy to have with Square?

Oh yes!

Square was 'first to market' with the terminal for this sector, having the stand alone unit was originally intended for those not using the app based system as they had other software running. In reality it's been far more useful for those of us on the entire Square systems!

I think the Zettle terminal beats the Square one on the software side of things as it's just a little more flexible with the options of having a built in scanner and is a bit slimmer if you don't need the printer attached.

On to your problem though (what platform have you come from?).

Why are you using QR codes for your products? Most retail barcode readers are 1D, reading simply the SKU.

You'd need to make sure the correct SKU is on your products in a format that the scanner and software can understand.
