Taxes are calculating at the wrong percentage

I have my sales tax set up for our location at 8.75%.  When I create an invoice with taxable items it is calculating at 8%.  I have been in contact with several SQUARE support team members and they are not understanding what I am saying.  Has this happened to anyone else? I have a ton of invoices to send out but cant until this is corrected.  HELP!

Hi there @buffaloharbor,

We are sorry to hear this is happening, and we appreciate your continued patience while we look into this. Just to confirm, this is only happening on the invoices that are being sent out, is that correct?

It is also happening to items at our POS at the bar.  I have it set so the tax is included in the price of the item and it too is calculating at 8%.  It is definitely a tax calculation issue across the board.

Picture for reference.  The tax is setup at 8.75% and is calculating at 8%.  The administrative fee is setup as a tax at 18% and is calculating at 17%.  The same thing is happening on our POS ... taxes are calculating at 8%.  This needs to be fixed!

@buffaloharbor

For some reason Your Tax is showing as Included and not adding on to the sub total price.

If you sell an item for $1.00  and in 8% ( I know this is not the tax rate) then add in the 18% Admin Fee the Total should be $1.25 not $1.17.

Now if you take an Item and sell it for $0.92 and add in the 8.75% tax the total comes to $1.00  also if you apply the admin fee of 18% to the $0.92 that shows as $0.17 because of rounding ??  When you add all this together this is how the Tax is total is coming to only $1.17.

You need to have the Tax applied to the sale price of the item not Included.

See my picture below... my sales tax is only 6% not 8.75 like yours but my Tax line does not Show INCLUDED.... and then the total increased by the Sales Tax amount.   IMG_20220506_100331.jpg

I am not sure how to fix the Tax included Not included issue you have but at least I think I figured out why it is happening.

Found how to turn this off...  Go here :

https://squareup.com/dashboard/business/manual-taxes

Then choose your 8.75% tax and at the bottom (see picture)

Tax Calculation --- have the slider turned to grey to Not be Included in the Price.

See if that helps or fixes it

Hi keith

Yes that does make the tax calculate at the correct percentage.  This is a POS for a bar and I don't want to have to have coin change so everything is a round number.

Thank you for your help.

I was on a chat with support for FIVE hours today ... and they could NOT figure it out and disconnected with me!  Is there a number I can call to talk to someone?  This is a tax calculation issue ... so probably the tax department?
