TIME CARD LOGS

Is there anyway to see a log of clock in and clock out deletions. Employees stating that their clock in and clock out are completely missing. We need to see a log to see if their hours are being deleted. I can see the changes recorded for when a shift is modified, but need to see if a shift is completely deleted or not.

@MountainHouse From your dashboard, go to Shifts -> Workday.  If a shift is dark green, it is a time card of some kind.  If it is light green, it could mean a scheduled shift that wasn’t clocked in for, or it could indicate that there was a time card there that was deleted.  Click on the shift and you’ll see a screen like the screen shot, showing the log of a shift of mine that I deleted.

I think that’s what you need.

Unfortunately, we don't use schedules. So workday is just completely blank. Any other suggestions?

Thanks! 🙂

Having never used the free version of Shifts, etc, I am not sure.  I can’t believe that they don’t use the Workday function for all tiers, though.  How do you find your time cards and hours to use for payroll preparation now?

Workday is used, and payroll imports the time cards. We just don't use schedules, so there wouldn't be anything displayed in light green, its just blank if they didn't work that day OR if someone deleted their punch in and out.

So indulge me and test something for me. Have an employee (or you) click in and out. Then go to Workday and delete that shift. I think it says delete hours. . The deleted shift should still show up, just in light green. If it doesn’t then I definitely think you’ve found a bug since that is the only real time card activity log available.

But if it works like I think, however, then you can know for certain that timer cards aren’t being deleted without your knowledge or ability to see. If an employee is missing a time card then they just forgot to clock in.

I really appreciate your help! 🙂 We tried that first to see if the deletion was recorded in any way, and it isn't. It just goes back to blank on that day. Like you said, I suspect employees aren't clocking in, no matter what they try to show me, it never loses their time. With that said, I still wish that there was a record of deleted shifts, and not just a record of modified shifts.

Sounds like you covered all the bases I would then! I believe this is a bug. I’ll PM this thread to a Square team member and see if they can escalate it for research. Even in the free tier this should not be happening.

@MountainHouse I touched base with a contact at Square. They have started the process of determining if this is a bug or something else. I would assume you will hear from them after it has been investigated. I asked to be kept in the loop, too.
