Strange Contact Form emails

Hope I've posted this in the correct group.

For some time I've received strange emails which is a general Contact Forms I assumed came from one of the websites I run as its:

From [email protected],

Heading: New Form Entry - Review
To: one of my email addresses
Reply to: an email I don't recognise

The emails say a load of rubbish / gobbledygook and in the past I've replied asking if they could explain, then I ignored them and now they're just annoying.

What's strange is that my email that the form is sent to is not one that I use on any of the websites Contact Forms, and its not one I even log into Weebly with.

It is however the email that only Weebly use to contact me when my subscription needs renewing etc.  That is the only connection.

I can't block the email as its from the general [email protected] which would affect all contact forms from all the sites, and no rule picks up on the reply to email (I only have the option for the sender).

Yes I can carry on ignoring these annoying emails, but I'm curious - how are these being sent to me and from where?

Hi @Floppycat, thanks for posting and welcome to the Community 🙂.

It's possible that you might be receiving spams on your contact forms. One way to prevent this is to enable Captcha. To do so, log in to your website editor :

  1. Click on Website then Edit Site
  2. Go to your Form page, click on the form then Form Options
  3. Toggle on Google Captcha
  4. Re-publish your website to save the changes

From there, you can also edit the email address the contact forms are being sent to. If you've changed your address email on your Weebly account before, it wouldn't have automatically changed the address on file for your forms.

I hope this helps but let me know if you have any other questions !
