I have been using Square to generate my invoices for my marketing business for years. I noticed this month there is a new option when generating an invoice that asks me to select a payment method for the invoice - Credit/Debit card, or Gift Card. Since my customer pays me by direct deposit, neither of these options will work for me. I have always been able to go back into the invoice when it is paid and "cash" it out. It seems Square will no longer allow you this no-charge option. How sad.
Disregard... I decided to take a chance and choose payment method Credit/Debit as the "preferred" method, and was able to send the invoice. Then I went back into the invoice to record a payment and it DOES allow for a cash payment. Kind of confusing that it requires you to choose one of only two methods of payment, but glad it still accepts cash.
I have a woodworking business and I am looking for a way to make invoices but like you my customers mainly pay me cash and with a trusted customer I accept a check from them do you have to pay square after doing this option or is it a free way of making an invoice for them?
invoices are free, it is just if they pay with a credit card that there is a fee.
Okay so far as sending an invoice to them then I would select credit or debit and then when they give me the check I open back up the invoice and there's an ability to mark it as paid? This is all new to me so I'm trying to find out
yes, you can pick ACH so that they don't try and pay with a credit card when sending. And yes after sending it you mark payment as received with cash or check. I send dozens of invoices and never have any paid except by check.
