There's not a spot to plug the square into my upgraded Android phone, so I have saved my old phone and have been using that. Last summer, it stopped recognizing the reader and I now have to manually enter every single card, who h means paying a higher fee. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, as well as tried from other devices. Nothing seems to fix this problem. Any suggestions?
First thing to check @thewardrobe : do headphones still work on your old phone? If not, then there's a good chance the headphone port on the phone went kaput.
If headphones do work, the headphone jack-based reader is still free of charge. Head over to Account & Settings -> Square Accessories -> Card Reader and just grab a new one. Beats troubleshooting it! 🙂
