Square Terminal Update

Hello all,

I'm experiencing some issues with my terminals.

During service hours my terminals are deciding that then is a good time to update, I have 3 and only 1 has done it at a time so not a huge issue but can be frustrating.

The thing that is a little confusing is that they are not plugged in when they commence the update and we are in the middle of using them as I read they only update when at night and plugged in.

In addition to this. the updates get stuck and I have had the terminals on all of the last updates get stuck for a good few hours. (To note I am able to shut down and restart with the side button mid-update which seems strange to be able to do during software updates)

I don't think this is a hardware issue but more software as all 3 of my terminals have done the same thing.

Thank you in advanced.

Hey @YeOldeCrown, thanks for your post! Let's see if I can find a fix for you.

Software updates are, by default, set at 3am to avoid any disruption to your normal business hours. If you need to adjust your nightly reboot time, head to ≡ More > Settings > Hardware > General from the navigation bar at the bottom of your screen. Tap Nightly Reboot and select the time that works best for your business.

Note: This adjustment will not take effect on the next nightly reboot, but instead the one after that.

As for the terminals getting stuck, have you tried doing a factory reset on the terminals affected by this issue? You mentioned you were still able to switch them off during the update. To hard factory reset your Terminal, hold the button down for about 10-20 seconds until the screen goes black, then try switching on your Terminal again and starting the software update again.

Hope this helps, let me know if the issue persists. I'd be happy to take another look into it.
