Help! We got in the new terminal and were changing settings, and somehow turned off the unique receipt number that was printed on our copy of the receipt (the little automatic one that prints after a sale has gone through). I need this number back on it for staff and tracking.. How do i turn it back on?? Thank you ! PS still using the old swivel/ipad/tap pad currently

It sounds like you might have enabled Order Tickets and/or Order Ticket Stubs from the Printer section of your Terminal. When you do this ths receipt number (a mix of letters and numbers) isn't included in the printed receipt but it should appear if you reprint a receipt. The receipt number is also always visible from a payment from the the Transactions section of the Terminal and the Transactions section of your online Suqare Dashboard.
To check or change your settings: tap the three lines in the top left > tap Settings > Printer > toggle Order Tickets or Order Ticket Stubs off.

Just a question regarding this topic. My computer software at my medical office initiates an invoice #. Is there a way to manually type in this number to square prior to the patient making a payment. My previous terminal allowed us to type in numbers. Thank you!!

The receipt # that's generated after the transaction has been completed. Something like '#y4Fy' etc.
My current software already has a 5 digit number. I would like to add this 5 digit number to each receipt prior to making the transaction
We will be manually keying in the dollar amounts and handing the terminal to the patient for tap/insert etc

Gotcha, there is no way to edit the receipt number! You can add custom texts to receipts but I don't think that will help or be a good workaround for what you need.
You can submit a feature request on our Ideate Board and that is something our team can look into implementing.
