Square Register issues - Main Screen & fast Time outs

I have two issues with the register.  I am using Square for retail on it (but using the standard screen with items in text no photos.)  So I am not sure if it is an issue with the equipment or the software.  

 

The first is the main screen touch is not responding correctly. It is doing two things.

  1 - Not responding at all to touch

  2 - Input happens when you are NOT even touching it!

And sometimes if you try to reboot the selections for power off or restart doesn't stay on the screen long enough to even touch it.

 

I have done restarts and cold boots (unplugging the power) to see if it helps.

 

The second problem deals with it timing out and going to the log in screen.  I have it set for 10 minutes.  This especially happens when I am trying to add or update items,  It goes out after only a minute or two,  I lose everything that I have input and need to redo it,  This gets really tiring.
