I just found a bug that causes my Square Register, running Square for Restaurants to freeze up and require a reboot.
It happens when you have pre-selected modifiers for an item, if you select a new modifier, then try to remove one of the pre-selected modifiers it will give a black screen with the square logo.
You can get back to sales by selecting "configure system", then "back to login", but you lose some options, like manually opening the drawer. The system will NOT reboot, or load on its own for at least 10 minutes (I did not wait longer than that.
Best method is REBOOT manually at this black screen and let the system reload.
This is confirmed on 2 Square Registers in 2 separate locations.
It only occurs in this order. If you remove a pre-selected modifier first, then add new modifiers it will not occur.
The issue seems to have been resolved for about a month, though we started shutting down our Square Register at close and restarting in the morning which generally kept the issue from happening prior to the update.
