I see this asked often in the US forum (as far back as 2018!) but not in the UK - is there a way to adjust the volume (ideally turn off) of the beep when a customer taps their contactless card etc?
we’re quite a high end bakery + restaurant and when customers are dining it’s a bit of a problem. We currently turn over 500k+ and with the addition of a wine bar we’re building we expect this to sit at 1.5m - 2m (tripling our capacity and additional services) and this feature would make us look at alternative hardware which is unfortunate as we do really enjoy the software so much!
I notice there’s been a lot of requests for this feature, and with it being a simple software update I’m surprised it’s not been implemented yet, particularly with square moving to target restaurants and higher turnover businesses.
it’s obviously been discussed with the development team I’m wondering what level of support a topic needs for it to be actioned?
Thanks,
S
Hey @Hillcast! Thanks for your post and wishing you a warm welcome to Square's Seller Community!
Can you confirm what square hardware you are using? Depending on the device, you should be able to adjust the volume.
Square Terminal
Square Register
You can change the volume of sound from Settings > Hardware > Sounds.
Let me know if that helps at all!
Hi Skyler!
I have the register and turned sounds down all the way and still get the beep from contactless transactions. 96% of our transactions are contactless and during a rush it can be quite distracting to diners - any other suggestions?
thanks for the help!
Hi @Hillcast, just following up here for Skyler.
We appreciate you sharing your business use case for this request and why it would be valuable for you. I understand that this is popular amongst our sellers.
At the Seller Community, we receive numerous feature requests every week, which require significant time and effort from our engineers to bring to fruition. Our aim is not just to create products but to provide comprehensive resources that will assist you and your business.
I don't have a specific timeline for when it will be possible to disable this tone, but I'll be sure to provide any future updates here.
