Sporting Club - free meal vouchers

We use our Square terminal for weekly meals at our sporting club and it has been a great addition. Each week we give out 'free meal vouchers' for best player etc. 

The value of the voucher will equal the most expensive item on the menu. We don't need to track the customer that has redeemed the voucher as these will be given out on the day (no time to enter details into the system).

What would be the best way to apply these in the system when customers redeem them when ordering at the counter - discount code, gift card, coupon?

Thanks for writing in and welcome to our community 👋 We're glad to hear Square is working well for your club! 

Creating a discount code would be the quickest way to achieve what you're after - gift cards would take a little longer to be set up, while you can just apply a discount in the checkout. To create a discount from your app:

1. Tap More > Items > Discounts.

2. Select Create Discount and enter a discount name. From here you can also either create a percentage, or dollar based discount. 

3. Tap Save once you're done. 

When going through the checkout, tap > Add discount and select the discount you've created.

Hi, I know this is an old post. But I wanted to check if there is a way to enter the discount code at the pos and online to save having to use two methods to create a voucher/ discount?
