Self serve ordering no table service

Our venue does not have table service but instead uses buzzers to alert customers to go to the bar and collect their meal. I am looking at implementing square self serve with QR codes. Is there a way to send the customer a notification on their phone (eg text message) that their meal is ready rather than delivery to their table? FYI we are also using KDS system in the kitchen.

At this time, we don't have a way for you to send a text when the order is ready. I can see how the ability to send texts when orders are ready would be useful, and will pass your feedback on to the Square Online team for consideration! 

 

If your customers keep the browser tab the order was placed from open, the order status will be updated once it's been marked as completed from the kitchen. 

Here's what that looks like from a customer's point of view:

You can also customise the instructions for your self serve orders to let your customers know to pick up their order.  
 

Go to Square Online Dashboard > Fulfilment > Self Serve > View Details. From there, you'll be able edit the pick-up instructions.

With the square online ordering system is there an option that will text the customer when their order is ready for pick up?

@Arie Is there an update on the texting customer when the order is progressed through the KDS, I thought I saw this somewhere but I cant find it again. Thank you in advance!
