Around July / August there was a update that fixed this issue that my scanner would randomly disconnect and need me to unplug the USB and Plug the USB back in. This was fixed then, but now with a recent update, 6.27? 6.28? OR 6.29? This issue has returned last week I believe and has not gone away. Was thinking after the update that did this then seeing a New update that would fix this, but since its still happening I figured I would ask here. My scanner needs to be uplugged and replugged i every morning before a sale eve though my Square Stad says it is connected. When I unplug the usb it shows it gets disconnected, then I ring up the customer finish the sale then the next sale I need to repeat this. Any reason why? My IOS has been updated tp 17.1.1 and my Square version is 6.29.1. Both are showing uptodate.
Any update on this since it is still going on as of Feb 28th 2024?? This is happening on a USB scanner so its not a Bluetooth issue. The scanner will Beep but nothing happens on the Square Stand, then the Scanner flashes Red. I unplug the USB plug to the scanner count to 30, plug it back in and it will work for the rest of that Transaction. The next Transaction is 50/50 if it will work. No rhyme or reason why it just stops working. The Notifications on the stand show its connected. Again this was an Issue that was fixed end of July / August 2023 with a Square update and has returned in Novemeber 2023 and just seems to be geting worse with each update.
Hello @Candlestore, I am sorry you are continuing to have issues with your scanner. To confirm you using the USB scanner from Square? It sounds like the scanner needs to be reset, have you tried that?
the Scanner is not from Square it is a Zebra DS6878 but shows as a DS2208 or did untill recently. It is USB to a Charging base, then Wirelessly connected to the Scanner. And before you say it is the Scanner because Square does not support it, I have the EXACT same setup 6 feet away that works just fine 100% of the time. I have Swapped, Stands, Power Blocks, Scanners, all cables, and the issue only happens at the one stations physical location. Which does lead me to not think it was related to Square. But then with an Update to Square, no other changes, it worked fine till November. When We got an update to Square. Now it is intermitent but gets worse on some days just no rhyme or reason.
The problem never followed any item, cable, etc to the other physical location 6 feet away.
I have the Zebra 123 Utilites programmer and both my scanners were configured using that. I have already Scanned the Reset Barcode to Factory, then changed the Volume setting, basically the only setting I change on the scanners. The beep in a quiet store can sound very loud. lol
Hi there 👋 This definitely seems tricky. Just to confirm, this particular scanner only has trouble in the one location? You have tested it on your other devices? Do other scanners you have at other stations work in this one spot? You also confirmed it worked okay until a recent update, and now it is intermittent?
Sorry for the multiple questions! I just want to make sure I'm understanding everything, and also want to clarify for anyone else who may have some input.
