Sales not showing up in Transactions

I'm baffled. I've had two sales that I know of (but multiple missing items from my inventory) not show up in daily transactions. What is happening? I ring them up, they tap to pay, it says "Sale Completed" on my end, the customer walks out with the product, and then there's no record of it ever happening. I'm thinking this is where all my lost inventory is going but why??? When happened to notice two months ago, I thought it might be because it asked for a signature and the customer and I missed it but yesterday it gave me a completed message. Anybody give some insight and a solution?

I can not give you an answer because I do not know exactly what you are doing. 

It sounds as if the transaction has been completed then disappears,

My suggestion is after each payment print out a 2nd receipt for your records. 

  1. The printed receipt would show Type of card and last 4 of the card used
  2. How the payment was made Countactless for example
  3. Receipt code to call support on why this disappeard from transactions
  4. Authorization Code
  5. All this would be needed to trace the transaction
  6. Along with the above would also be the amount that was charged or paid.
  7. Also turn on Automatic receipts, this way if customer does not want it you can throw it in a bucket to look up if a transaction is lost.

 

This way you would have a Transaction ID to be able to give Square if the transaction vanishes from your records.  The other thing could be that missing inventory could be just retail theft.  This still does not explain missing transactions.

Me too, within the last 90 minutes or so. I've had a couple hundred dollars in sales that I have no record of and no receipt for.

This is the exact issue I had today at 2:15pm EST. It makes no sense and has never happened before. I can’t print receipts either. I got the customers money, but making sure they get a receipt is very important to me in making sure my business runs smooth and they refer me to more customers.

This is happening to me as well. I tested it and ran my own card and sent myself a receipt. I was charged, I looked at my online banking, but it didn't send me a receipt and didn't show up in transactions. until 2 hours later. but the other 4 transactions I'm missing are still not showing up.

I had this happen to me Dec 4th.  Then on the 5 - 7 the numbers didn’t match up.  Shows they still owe me about $500 AND THATA NOT THE DAY ALL MY TRANSACTIONS VANISHED.   They called me a liar - I hung up!

I've never had any issues. Now I processed a cash sale thinking I missed it (first sale that didn't show) and I can't "refund" because the transaction is missing. I'm stumped.

Having the same issue. Transaction processed and completed through at my event, but the transaction doesn't show. No printer to print my own receipt as it's the card scanner through an iPhone.

I am now seeing one of the "missing" transactions during that 90 minute blank window. They seem to be coming back slowly. Fingers crossed for us all!!!

this happened once before to us -- it went on for a few hours and I "think" all our sales (a few hundred) ended up getting logged accurately before the end of the day!
