I have a cafe in Massachusetts. The state updated how we report our monthly sales and meals tax. They now require us to report out each tax (sales vs meals) by either cash, or credit sales.
I've spoken to Square support and the work around means manually matching up thousands of transactions in order to accurately report, and pay each tax.
Is anyone aware of a report (or reports) that will parse out, or allow you to filter to get each total?
At this time Sales tax filters are a feature request.
I will make sure to pass this one over to our product team for their visibility @lgmbts. Thank you for reporting this change in the state of Massachusetts.
JJ,
Tax filtering is not a feature request. And I just couldn't believe there wasn't at least a work around beyond going through 1000's of line items and matching them to the type of sale (cash/credit), and the amount of the tax attached to each sale.
I called back Square just now and they drove me directly to the answer that the last support rep (not on the seller community, but Square customer success) wasn't able to provide me.
So, for anyone who comes across this question - here's the answer:
From the dashboard, tap on "Taxes". Then, tap on "Filter By". A dropdown will appear - select "payment method"
Tap on the "payment method" filter and select either "cash" or "credit".
Glad I could be helpful.
My most sincere apologies for this confusion. You are absolutely correct. Taxes are not exactly my forte and while investigating I must have looked in the wrong place.
I am glad that you were able to find what you were needing.
