SSL

I was looking to test our online shop and got the 'This store is not yet accepting payments.' message. I thought it was due to not having an SSL certificate and as we have a custom domain through Ionos I purchased a certificate, was verified, and activated that and now have a private key. Now I believe I did not need this nor is it useful for Square. Will having it verified (by GeoTrust) interfere with it being automatically verified by Square?

I also guess I have wasted money in buying the GeoTrust verification. I have found Square so easy up to now and use it in two businesses but this has been frustrating.

I'm sorry I missed your question @Joanne3! Are you still seeing the error message at the moment? If so, there're a couple troubleshooting steps that usually help resolve this:

  • Make sure your account is verified for taking card payments and that you've linked a bank account to Square. You can link your bank account from your Dashboard by following Account & Settings > Bank Accounts
  • Make sure Order Online is enabled on your website. You can check this by navigating to your Square Dashboard > Online Store > Settings > Checkout
  • Make sure items are in stock and have fulfilment methods applied to them
  • Unpublish and republish your site to make sure the site is fully secured
  • Go to your Square Dashboard > Account & Settings > Locationsmake a small change to your location information (like adding a space in the business bio), click Save then wait for about 5 minutes to see if it will help resolve the issue.
If you've tried all the steps above and the error message is still there, the best thing to do is to contact our Support team directly for further assistance.
