SMS Marketing in the UK

Having introduced a loyalty scheme into our Venue, customers are loving their ability to gain points and redeem rewards.  This has definitely shown an increase in patronage, which is great.

However, the scheme uses mobile phone numbers (not email) and it would be expected that we benefit from their signup and therefore consent to send them offers.

So when are we getting this ability through Square Marketing in the UK?  Else having a loyalty scheme seems kinda half baked.

Thanks

Hi @Hideaway_Dan great to hear your loyalty has taken off with your customers but I also feel your pain when giving rewards and not being able to gain the benefits of direct marketing. We have the same challenges for our UK business.

So we have created a bit of a hybrid of a loyalty club to enable us to use the great functionality of the loyalty points system, and direct marketing to loyalty members by email. We use the Square Register, which is absolutely fantastic with it's customer facing display. So we don't onboard using the loyalty sign-up on the CFD, but opt to onboard manually adding email, mobile and name to the customer profile. We then have a group we add them to which gives member an auto discount on our takeout menu, add them to our marketing subscriber list, and activate their loyalty account. It's a bit clumsy but all can be done from their profile page. Be nice if this could be smoothed out technically somehow.

I would love to see a loyalty sign-up screen that allows us to specify which fields we want to populate on the CFD. This works on our display but for some reason the specified fields show on our screen but the CFD shows all fields and unless you hand hold the customer they fill all fields in, it takes an age, hence we populate the fields for the customer. However once signed up they sign in using their mobile (works ok but sometimes the customer can't remember their mobile numbers, QR code sign-up similar to the big boys like Costa use may be a way forward)

The last challenge we have is when using the QR sign-up link it's a little clumsy as there is a two page process to get mobile and email, a little off putting for onboarding and sometimes only the mobile or email is added, so they part sign-up so they become customers we can't market to. So I would love to see this smoothed out a little so we can show what fields are shown on the sign-up link. Each business is different.

Having said all this it kind of works ok, if the sign-up could be made easier I think we would see more signups, it a little off putting at the moment.

Take a look at the Register if not already, it may be worth a look at.
