Require a customer account to be added to a sale

Is there an option to always require a customer account to be added to a sale? 

 

We are a member based organisation so ideally I need anyone completing a sale to always select a customer in order to demonstrate that a transaction is exempt from tax.

Currently, there's no way to require a customer account be added to every sale. Instead, you could consider adding a required modifier to each of your items to serve as a prompt or reminder. To see how this would work, check out Sineaid's best answer in this AU Community thread.

You're also able to add a customer to a transaction after each sale on the Square Dashboard by navigating to Reporting > Transactions, select the transaction and click ... > Add customer

I need the customers details (name, contact number, address) when completing a sale and so I would like to make it impossible to take the payment without first taking these details.

Maybe the "Charge" button could be greyed out until the info has been added.

 

Secondly, the way we've been taking the customer info is by "adding a customer".

This seems to work well but I don't like it when previous customers show up in the list when choosing to add a new customer.
Ideally the customer would enter their own details (we're using the Square app on an iPad), but I think it could make them feel uncomfortable to know that previous customers info can be easily seen by other people.

 

Any help is gratefully received.

In regards to seeing a list of recently created customers when adding a customer to a sale, removing this list would be considered a feature request at this time. I recommend checking out the Ideate Board to see if an existing request exists that you could add your support to. If none of the threads meet your requirements, please feel free to create your own.

Do you issue membership cards with a barcode?  We are looking at scanning the member's digital membership card which automatically adds their details to the sale and applies a discount.  A bit of back room admin to ensure the bar codes match and there is a cost to the digital card platform used.  Could also use with physical cards.

Digital loyalty passes are available for iOS devices, however, physical loyalty cards aren't available at this time. This is a popular feature request that we're tracking feedback for here, so I'd recommend adding your support and use-case on this existing thread😊
