Report downloads (Sales & VAT) Reconciling (UK based)

Hi

Trying to do end of month reconciling.  Have downloaded the sales report and VAT breakdown separately but struggling to reconcile the two.

Expecting to see the total figure from the VAT breakdown to appear somewhere (or with minimal manipulation) in the Sales download (to use as actual sales figure for the month), but no luck.

I'm obviously not understanding something

Are the refunds and discounts reflected in the VAT breakdown??

Any other pointers welcome.

Thanks

Andy

Hey @andywhy , thank you for your post!

With Square Reports, you can easily download a .CSV file of the sales tax associated with your transaction history. To get started:

  1. Log in to your online Square Dashboard and navigate to Reporting > Reports.
  2. Select Taxes from the menu on the left side of the page.
Choose your preferred date range and any additional filters at the top of the page.
  3. Click Export to download your report.

Your exported Sales Tax report will contain the following categories:
Tax Name: The name of the tax collected.
Taxable Amount: The pound amount of your transactions that have sales tax applied to a part of the sale.
Tax Collected: The total amount of sales tax collected for the date range selected.

Note: If you have items that have multiple taxes applied, navigate to your Sales Summary. Under Net Sales, you’ll find the amount equals the sum of the total taxable amount and total non-taxable amount.
