Is there a way to make a qr code or payment link to my square account without having a square online store?
I need a way to accept in person payments for items that are not in inventory, when I do not have the square hardware. I can't find a way to get a link or qr code without having an online store set up or a specific amount for an item when creating a link.
I don't always have my hardware on me to take a payment. I do have paypal and venmo but I'm wanting all my payments to go through square. I know there are tons of articles but so far everything I try is sending me to Weebly to make an online store. I have a website already, but when I sell in person I use Square and I need something for when I don't have the hardware.
Hi @molowry. You have a couple of choices to take payments when you don’t have a card reader.
Let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks I forgot all about that Pay with QR code. I always thought the QR code always took you to your Square Online Store not just creating a Quick QR code to pay.
This answers how to use a QR code for a single, specific transaction, but what if I don’t want an online store, but I want a QR code at my merch table that allows any customer to scan and buy a tshirt for the specified price? Shouldn’t there be a qr code I can print that applies to the item, not to a one-off transaction?
@TWDA ;
The QR code to get a Price pulls this data for the price from an online source. Now you can create a Free Square website and use that for getting your prices to appear from a QR code. Your site would be something like https://twda.square.site for example. When a person scans a Barcode or a QR code normally the price is linked by a computer or other type of connection to see the price. With a customer not having access to your Square catalog, the only way to do this would be with a Website. The QR codes actually embed the https://twda.square.site/t-shirt
to direct your customers cell to the website of the specific tshirt. This is why with the use of a QR code for pricing you need a website.
"Shouldn’t there be a qr code I can print that applies to the item, not to a one-off transaction?" - but that would either just be a 2D barcode that YOU would ring up in your Square Pos and would need a 2D barcode scanner, or would need a website, so that the QR took your customer to that specific item. Otherwise all the customer will see is the text in the field of the QR code with whatever you entered for the text.
@molowry ;
Short answer NO. You need a website for the QR code to take the person to the Item that is being sold.
Squares website with Plus can do what your asking.
