Hi there,
Hope you are well.
I've just had the uncomfortable experience of realizing that one team member (a manager) had found out about all the other team members' salaries through the 'Teams' section in Square.
This then resulted in one team member getting really annoyed and starting to underperform.
For now, I've set all salaries in Square to zero as I do not wish to disclose this information to any team members – not managers either.
What's Square's advice on how to deal with this? Is it possible to hide salaries also for managers who need access to the 'Shifts' rules (as they need to be able to do the rota)? If we cannot enter salaries into the system safely, then we also lose a lot of functionality for reporting and planning.
I hope someone can help and many thanks and advance,
Hi @skafte - thanks for flagging this.
I appreciate your concern and understand the importance of privacy regarding salary information - I'm sorry to hear about this experience.
The ability to hide salaries has already been requested, and our Team product team are working on a feature update here that will offer the option to hide salary details.
I don't have a timeline I can share here but I will let you know as soon as it is available.
Hello, anyone there? @Breffni?

Were you underpaying them for what they were doing?
Personally I'm an advocate of pay transparency and within my role as a business owner and previously employee the secrecy behind what people are paid causes more trouble.
Hi @Sam_400º,
Unfortunately, in this case, it's not that simple, but thank you for your input – although I find it a bit offensive that you suggest that I am underpaying my staff.
Anyway, I'm shocked that Square still hasn't fixed this as it's clearly a (big!) flaw in the system – whether you want full transparency or not in your business, it should certainly be optional whether you want everyone to be able to see this or not – and it should be hidden as a default.
It's not always only in the interest of the employer to not have full transparency; not everyone wants others to know how much they are getting paid and it's not all businesses who can pay everyone the same.
Let's keep focus on what this thread is about; a missing feature and a fault in the system (at least in my opinion).

Hey @skafte - wasn't suggesting you're underpaying, just raising a question 👍🏻
Head on over to the Ideate boards where you can find current feature requests and submit new ones.
I'd also suggest joining the Beta part of the community as this is an opportunity to see what's in the final stages of testing and provide feedback.
Hi there @Breffni – are there any updates on this by any chance? Cheers!
Sorry to bother you @Breffni, but I'd really appreciate an update on this. Thank you.
Hi @skafte no bother at all - sometimes I don't get notified of updates on some of these older threads.
No updates here I'm afraid. We'll update these threads but also the Product Updates board with any new features or developments!
Thanks @Breffni – I thought that maybe something like that had happened. Or that you had been flooded with notifications about me responding to stuff! 😂 (sorry!).
Anyway, just to say, I don't think that this should be treated as a feature request as such, but rather as a (in my opinion) critical error in the system. I therefore hope that you'll push this internally.
Have a lovely weekend and all the best,
Hi there @Breffni, hope you are well.
I recently noticed the feature 'View wages and labor costs' under 'Shifts':
Can you confirm, if by any chance, disabling this would mean that users with access to the 'Shifts' rules are then not able to see salaries of other team members?
I hope we've finally got a solution to this problem 🤞
Many thanks and all the best,
