Printing product labels for individual items from square KDS ?

Hi , is it possible to print off individual items labels using square KDS ? We would be looking to print off the labels to stick to takeaway items - cups, packaging,  etc...

I know this feature is available on Fresh KDS which is why we use them at the moment but wasn't sure if it have been released on Square KDS ?

Hey @MJAYS, thank you for your post. Great question!

As of now, it is not possible to connect printers to the KDS at this time. It's a great feature request though, so I'll be sure to pass this over to our team for them to take into consideration. 

In saying that, however, it is possible to use them side by side. Just bear in mind that the printing won't be controlled by the KDS but by whatever device is running the Point of Sale. 

For example, you can set up a ticket printer station separately from the KDS, but it will print every order ticket or whatever item categories were chosen to print on the Point of Sale.

Erm @k_atie you can set printers with the KDS no problem. 

You can set per item tickets and use the liner less labels/printers. 

I’ve tried using it with an AirPrint label printer but the output isn’t great - I use it with per order 100x150mm labels ok but anything smaller seems to do strange formatting stuff so you can’t see the print.

When I checked internally, this feature hasn't been tested by our engineers yet, which is why we don't recommend it as we can't guarantee consistent functionality. But glad to know you found a solution that works for you! This will be helpful for other sellers.

Hi @Sam_400º  i have just noticed this reply. Could you explain how this works, can you manually select what labels you want to print from the KDS or do they print automatically ?

Also do you have a picture of what the labels print like ?
