Printing Two Order Tickets with One Order Printer

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: Printing order tickets

Hi,

In our kitchen we don't have KDS but we have 1 order printer. We want to make it so when an order is placed in person, the order ticket printed prints the food items and the drink items with the same order number on 2 separate tickets, one to be given to the kitchen and one to be given to the drinks prep area. How would I achieve this.

Hey @rustikkitchen this is super easy!

In your app settings just create two printer profiles for the same printer - job done!

When you set up the profiles you can set it to print just drinks on one and just food on there other if that’s what you’re after buy selecting the categories.

Hello @rustikkitchen. Firstly, I wanted to welcome you to the Square Community. Welcome!

Secondly, I am going to go ahead and tag in a few of our Square Champions who may be able to shine some light on this subject. @Candlestore @TheRealChipA @Sam_400º, do you all have any insight on this?

@rustikkitchen ;

I am not sure what kind of printer you currently have or how it is setup.   I have a Star Micro Receipt printer that connects by Bluetooth, USB or ethernet connection.   I had this printer connected by USB and by Network and setup 2 printer profiles.  1 connected to it by USB and the other by Network cable.  I used the 2 printer profiles to only print Receipts and was getting 2 receipts.  I am not sure of your setup to accommodate this.  Now the only other thing I could think of is having 1 Printer profile as a Receipt to this printer and one as an Order Ticket to this same printer.  I just do not think you can print 2 order tickets to the same printer in Square.  You can print from multiple POS stations to one printer but not sure about doing 1 POS  to print multiple Identicle tickets is where I struggle.  I am in Reatil for a candle store an do not use a KDS at all to even test this.

My only guess would be create an In-store Printer station for Order tickets and a Printer station for an Order with Fulfillment with your 1 printer being the printer for both of these printer profiles.  This might be able to accomplish what your trying to do.   Let us know if it does work.

Hi @rustikkitchen 👋

Do you want the food and drink items to all be printed on the same ticket? Or, do you want to separate the items to have only the drink items printed at the drink prep station and only food/kitchen items printed at the kitchen printer?

If you'd like to separate the items to each printer, based on the item type, you can do so by following the instructions here. Your items will just need to be assigned to the appropriate category, in order to be sent to the appropriate printer.

I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any questions 🙂
