Is there a way we can do prepaid tabs? I own two bars, and one in particular has a lot of people who will put a tab on, and want to prepay it. On other POS, we could do a cash out, and then do a discount on an open ticket, and just have to keep an eye on it.
Obviously with Square we can't do cash out.
Hey Ben,
So, if you don’t mind paying the load fee, you could use the prepay amount to create an e-gift card, which you would email to yourself. Then you can use that card when closing out transactions.
Another option, though a little more involved, would be to open a house account when someone prepays. Set that HA’s credit limit to the amount of the prepay. Then close transactions to the HA. Of course you’d have to zero out the HA at some point by manually adjusting the balance due. But I think that would also work.
Finally you could not run the prepay transaction right away. Just set up a HA for the limit desired. Close transactions to it. Then, when depleted, create the invoice for the HA and charge it to the customer’s card on file.
If I wake up at 0300 and think of other possibilities, I’ll post them later. Ha.
Hmmmm gift cards could be an option. Most of them are repeat customers, so we could have a Gift Card (assuming they can be reloaded) for each person, and then a few for randoms.
We can't keep credit cards on files (we have a lot of restrictions due to our proximity to a First Nations town), hence why we like the prepayment.
That's a bit rough on the extra % though, I will have to check what I pay for them, as I get a lower card %
And sleep mate, sleep! Have to keep up that energy for the new store
@TheRealChipA said exactly what I did in the past for prepaids: a stack of gift cards sitting in a little box by the register. Nowadays though I think I'll lean more towards the house account idea. I just wish it was available on the online environment. 😞
Yeah this seems the go, except for the extra %. We can chuck names on regular ones to
