Possible to set up a "Favorite" to add more than Qty 1 of an item?

Note: We do 99% of our sales on Square Register, but I believe this question applies more to the POS software that runs on Register (and Terminal, and on the Mobile App).

The items we sell are priced per each, and each item is given a spot on the "Favorites" page on our Square Register. So if I click on any one item on the Favorites page, then a quantity of one of that item is immediately added to the Current Sale. But these items are often purchased in half-dozen and dozen quantities. I would like to set up the Favorites so there are three rows of items: clicking an item on the top row would add Qty 1 of that item to the sale; clicking an item on the 2nd row would add Qty 6 of that item to the sale; and clicking an item on the 3rd row would add Qty 12 of that item to the sale.

I do NOT want to create a separate item for each of the three "quick quantities" for each item.

I suspect this is not possible, but wanted to check. If not, this should be added as a software upgrade.

You're correct in your assumption - currently, Square's POS software (whether on Register, Terminal, or Mobile) doesn't have the capability to set different preset quantities for the same item in the Favorites grid. Here are the current options available:

1. Current Functionality:

   • Single tap adds quantity of 1
   • Multiple taps add multiple quantities
   • Manual quantity entry using the quantity button
   • Quick quantity modifications after adding item

2. Available Workarounds (though not ideal for your situation):

   • Creating item variations (but as you mentioned, you don't want separate items)
   • Using Quick Modifiers (though these are more for add-ons than quantities)
   • Using the quantity button after adding items

3. Best Current Practice:

   • Add the item once
   • Use the quantity button to quickly change to 6 or 12
   • Or tap the item 6 or 12 times (though this isn't efficient)

This would indeed be a valuable feature request for Square, especially for businesses like yours that regularly sell items in specific quantity increments. The ability to set preset quantity shortcuts would improve efficiency significantly.
