I have been using a contactless reader for years now. About a year ago, it began disconnecting between sales. The only way to make it work again is to restart the Square app.
Not only have I exhausted every troubleshooting step with Square support chat, I have tested this out on another Pixel 3a phone which has been fully factory restored. I have also tried on a brand new 2nd generation reader.
Without fail, the secure connection is lost within minutes, even when connected to a home wifi signal.
Clearly Square is no longer compatible with the Pixel 3a or there is a bug that needs fixing.

Thank you for reaching out to us about this, we definitely want to take a closer look at this for you. What version of the app are you using currently?
It's always the most recent version of the app available for my Pixel 3a. I've been experiencing this problem for a little over a year at this point and updating the app has never resolved it.
As of writing this, it was version 6.50. I've just now updated it to 6.51.
Just for clarification, I'm able to run sales using the reader, but if I have more than about a minute or two between sales, the connection will be lost and the app will need to be restarted or the bluetooth toggled.
