Phantom subcategories

I am working on setting up my online store.  Early on, I created two subcategories - "Test" and "Arrowleaf".  I decided that was not the direction I wanted to take the store, and deleted those two categories.  However, they still appear in the left-hand shopping navigation.  I have cleared my cache multiple times.  How do I get the deleted subcategories to disappear from my right-hand shopping navigation menu.

HI, yes, these have been appearing.  In the Editor under Navigation Links, add Test (again), Save, exit Editor, return to Navigation Links to delete new Test, this should delete both.  Repeat for Arrowleaf.  This is the steps I used to remove one I had.

Thank you!  I had to try a couple of times, and moved them from subcategories to categories, but it worked.
